LVWA

The Problem

Livermore Valley Wine Association (LVWA),  a 501(c) 6 organization in Northern California, wanted to pursue a planning grant. The LVWA consists of 40 small family-owned wineries dedicated to showcasing world-class wine and the visitor amenities of the Livermore Valley Wine Country. This association needed the grant money to expand an existing event called a Taste of Terroir to a series of regional events celebrating the viticulture of the American Viticultural Area (AVA) and educating consumers and the trade about the AVA.

With its small staff, LVWA  did not have the time, experience, or resources to research and write a grant proposal. They needed to hire a grant writing team that would research which grant was best for them and then write the grant proposal.

The Solution

A Write on Time Solutions grant writer researched the different types of grants for LVWA.  The fact that LWVA was a 501 (c) 6 organization and consisted of agricultural producers restricted the number of grant possibilities. After careful research, the writer found a funding opportunity that offered a grant that LVWA was eligible for–the USDA Rural Business Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG).

Next, a second grant writer created an outline of the grant application based on the VAPG’s requirements. The writer then worked closely with LVWA to help write each section of the 21-page grant proposal document.

Because of this collaboration, the USDA awarded LVWA the planning grant. In addition, LVWA has asked Write on Time Solutions to help them apply for a working capital VAPG grant.
